Sometimes impossible to hit a scarab

When I play hardcore and see a scarab coming from afar, somtimes i don't seem to be able to hit it. I shoot full mags into it but I don't even get a hitmarker. What do you guys think, is it just a case of bad connection or is it the hardcore gamemode?
