SA is being left out.
China is initiating their ‘New Silk Road’ megaproject program. The worrying thing is that ALL the projects in Africa are oriented towards Europe and the Northern hemisphere.

China is the only country doing well and it behooves SA to suck-up to them and, if they are throwing money around, we could use some infrastructure to offset Zuma and ANC destruction. The whole African Southern hemisphere should establish ties with China but I am only concerned with SA. They have many attributes which would benefit SA. They are intolerant of corruption (except by the ruling elite). Even those (if they’re too blatant) are sanctioned. No endless appeals, lawyers and a ‘jury of your peers’. Court case and if you’re found guilty you’re shot. Justice is swift. They want to extend Chinese hegemony into Africa. SA should facilitate this and reap the benefits of Chinese largesse. We have the biggest undeveloped harbour on the planet (Richards Bay) in the middle of Zululand. Richards Bay could be an international gateway for Mozambique, Namibia, Zimbabwe and the African interior. There is a huge, unemployed labour force that can be exploited (the Zulu). A developed Richards Bay will employ most of Zululand and provide a fountain of cash for KZN. South Africa has other advantages. South Africa has fought Russia and Cuba before (proxy wars for America and ‘rooi gevaar’ crap) but never China. That is bound to help detente with China. There are no dead bodies between us. Socialism may be the answer to SA’s woes. You can’t dismiss socialism just because some countries fucked it up.
Capitalism has failed in Africa. Look at foreign aid. America’s aid (the bastion of capitalism) has been to throw money at the problem. This has happened throughout Africa over decades and has been a dismal failure. The governing elite steal it and it opens the door to massive corruption. Very little trickles down to the grass roots. China (whom America denigrates at every opportunity), on the other hand, contribute aid in the form of infrastructure. You can’t steal clinics, libraries, schools, (although you can burn them down) roads, bridges, etc. and sock it away in a Swiss bank account. More Chinese ‘aid’ might reach the grass roots. They are skilled in collective agriculture (rural upliftment) and, notably, cannot be guilted with colonialism.
In addition, China is on a relatively straight line to Richards Bay. They need minerals (which Africa has plenty of). They have aid money earmarked for Africa. They want to spread Chinese hegemony in Africa. In the harbour infrastructure development, conveyor belts (like the coaling terminal) need be built to deliver ore swiftly to Chinese ships. It is likely that railways to mining areas will be refurbished. It will all be Chinese labour because they won’t have patience with local entitlement, strikes and laziness. Corruption will be virtually non-existent. No suspension with full pay indefinitely, sideways promotion, golden parachutes or lost dossiers. If you’re found guilty, you are shot the next day. They won’t take self-entitled shit and will kick lazy butt. We have a vast pool of unskilled and ignorant unemployed. They will never make it under capitalism. But we have something China needs that doesn’t require skill to supply. Mineral wealth (you just dig it out the ground). South Africa should be part of China’s New Silk Road.
