Can my 15 year old friend decide which parent he wants to spend his time with and when? (QUEBEC)

Custody Divorce and Family

So currently, he gets to stay with his dad Monday and Tuesday, and then his mom Wednesday and Thursday, then Dad Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and then his Mom Monday Tuesday, and then his dad Wednesday Thursday, and then his mom Friday Saturday and Sunday. And his schedule is basically a repeat of that.

His mom also sometimes takes him for a whole week (and sometimes even two) every month or so for a vacation or trip that she would usually take anyway, but just decides that she has to take him too. Sometimes these trips are too just get him away from his dad or from hanging out with us (me and my friends, usually during an important event like a party or something we were waiting for), or just to get more time with him than his dad.

There's nothing wrong with his dad. He's just a lot more laid back than her as a parent but he's still a very chill guy and just gives him more freedom than his mom. She also doesn't really like us too much. We're all ranging around 1-3 years older than him, but he grew up on our lake and we've all known each other since we were very little, so we never even think about age difference and we're all raised on an equal level of maturity tbh.

His mom knows us all. Both his parents used to live on our lake and know us all well, but ever since she moved away she just hates everything connected to her "old life", and looks at us negatively for no reason.

So my friend wants more time with his dad, not just because it means he can see us, but because he generally likes his dad a bit more. but he says it's not up to him and he has no say in the situation. His dad would also like more custody of him than his Mom too.

I don't know all the inside details, but he just says he can't due to legal terms. I'm not sure if that's because of the general law for his age or what her lawyers might have done.

So yeah, sorry for the long post. Just want to know if he really has NO SAY in this, and what are his options right now, for a 15 year old.

FYI: This is in QUEBEC, CANADA.
