Help with my sorcerer build

So I just got to the Road of Sacrifices, but I'm not doing so well in terms of damage. Died only to the outrider knight before the bonfire, but it took me a while. I know that mages have it rough in the beginning, but I just want to make sure that I didn't miss something important. Anyways, here's my character so far: Level 35 12 Vigor 22 Attunement 14 Endurance 7 Vitality 14 Strength 14 Dexterity 22 Intelligence 7 Faith 12 Luck Weapons: Fire Broadsword +2, Sorcerer's Staff +2 Shield: Silver Eagle Kite Shield Armor: Lothric Knight helm, Sorcerer robes and gloves, and Mirrah trousers. Rings: Young Dragon Ring, Life Ring, Covetous Silver Serpent Ring, and Chloranthy Ring. Spells: Soul Arrow, Heavy Soul Arrow, and Soul Greatsword.
