To all naysayers of the FLCL sequels coming up, I have one word
Diebuster.
No seriously. FLCL is my favorite anime of all time, and it kinda surprises me that people are so adamantly against getting more of what they love. If it turns out poorly, just don't watch it. If you do, it shouldn't affect your love for the original, as the first one will always still be there.
And it's clear these sequels are being made out of love and not a cash grab. I believe the head of Production I.G. loves FLCL, but I could be wrong. They've gotten the key animator from NGE, the previous director supervising the new seasons, and even the Pillows back! The guy who directed Psycho-Pass is even going to be in the crew. This clearly is going to have a lot of talent and effort thrown at it.
Besides, as shown before, there's precedent to follow up one Ova that was well resolved and "didn't need a sequel" (Gunbuster) with something completely different but great in its own way (Diebuster), the latter being directed by the director of FLCL.
All I'm saying is I have hope, and I'm surprised by all the negativity towards the new sequels.
