Returning from a hiatus - could use some quick advice

Hello Guardians,

I read the "Returning Players" section in the sidebar, but didn't see much for the newest batch of content.

I have played since beta and done almost everything that RoI had to offer (still missing a couple challenge modes in the raid I think), and I'm hoping one of you can provide a little summary of what I should do to get caught up for this newest patch and be as prepared as possible for Destiny 2.
