Let's discuss Gaunter O'Dimm
I'm really happy that CDPR listened to community suggestions and decided to make Gaunter a gold card with unique flavour, but I feel in its current form it's a little underwhelming and pretty much impossible to use consistently. The PTR version was at least exploitable with some deck manipulation, but the current one seems to be pure RNG and really has no place in competitive decks.
I like the direction the developers have taken with the card, but I feel it should be more exploitable in order to consistently provide value, i.e. under certain circumstances the card should be very strong, although this circumstances should be difficult to create. A good example here is closed beta Letho, which could be game winning if played correctly, but could also be completely useless in unfavourable circumstances.
At the moment the only deck which could possibly benefit from O'Dimm is Millfgaard, but at the same time there are cards which can better serve the same purpose.
What things do we know about O'Dimm that could possibly help with the design?
-
He's human form appears pretty week - should probably be low strength, but with a powerful effect.
-
He likes to make bets, which are very difficult to win - should be hard to exploit.
-
He can stop time - an extra play or turn maybe?
-
He can summon weather.
-
He wants your soul.
Here's my general idea how the card could be made more playable: when played, make a pact with O'Dimm, e.g. that you can win the current round or have the strongest card on the board by the end of next few turns - something that is not pure RNG; if you succeed - you're rewarded, if you lose you get punished.
