I was prescribed antibiotics for strep throat

I know most people here aren't doctors but I'm hoping I can get a few good opinions at least.

Here's the story:

• Boyfriend has chronic viral tonsillitis and tonsil stones and may be a strep carrier. (He needs his tonsils out clearly)

• He had tonsillitis the couple days following his visit to my house. 2 days after his visit I rapidly developed strep throat in just a few hours

• I had a fever of 102, chills, white and yellow puss in back of throat, hurt to swallow

• the strep definitely wasn't the worse I have experienced. I don't think I have ever had a fever from strep but I do know my throats wasn't nearly as bad as it was the last time I had it.

• I found taking ibuprofen worked wonders. It almost made me feel completely normal. Still had slight discomfort in my throat though.

I was trying to wait it out because I am very against taking antibiotics unless it is very very very necessary. I was over-prescribed antibiotics for so many things in middle school/highschool I probably too upwards of 40+ doses during that time. This left me with chronic IBS, Very very chronic bacterial vaginosis (which I still deal with severely to this day), and a sinus disorder amongst many other health problems that may or may not be related. After having to take Bactrim for a very serious UTI 5 years ago and feeling like I was going to die from the antibiotic, I become ever more weary of antibiotics.

So here's the thing, day 2.5 my parents kept hounding me to go get an antibiotic. I had taken so many ibuprofen pills that I was afraid to take more. After I stopped I was in agony. So very sick. I kept reading how the infection could spread to the ears and other places. With my horrible bad luck and chronic ear infections, I was afraid to take a chance.

So I went to urgent care. Doctor didn't even swab me and said I had so much puss in the back of my throat paired with the fever that it was most definitely strep.

Prescribed amoxicillin 875mg 2x a day.

I took one pill last night around 9pm and at 11pm took 1 80 billion FCU probiotic, lifeway kefir, and a Phillips colon health probiotic. Took 800mg of ibuprofen and a Benadryl and went to sleep.

I am feeling about 90% better now and the ibuprofen has definitely worn off.

I really am contemplating not taking any more of he antibiotic thinking it may have just been a coincidence and only taking one pill and stopping shouldn't do much harm. Worse comes to worse, it comes back with a vengeance and I take the full dose.

I am so unbelievably scared of antibiotics
