Anyone finish an MA capstone course?

I start my capstone course in a few weeks for an MA English literature, and was just wondering how different it is from the other courses. The description is vague, and I'm just dying to know if it's going to be an easy term. From what I can understand, there's an option to do a thesis, portfolio of previous work, or take an exam? I'd submit a portfolio or take an exam over a thesis any day of the week. Can anyone offer me some insight?
