Reconfiguring Input and User settings

I installed the friendly HUD mod a few hours ago, and i've been having a lot of trouble making it work properly. Some of the features work fine, but hotkeys are unusable, any kind.

After doing a lot of searching, i found out that, the input and user setting files i have to modify for the hotkeys to work, go back to their default state once i launch the game. I get a small message saying ""The game has been updated , all user settings has been restored to their defaults."

That basically throws me into an infinite loop and i can't use the hotkeys. If anyone is able to give me some advice, as to how to make this work, i would be awfully greatful.
