What's the good, bad, and ugly of Black Desert Online? Beginner tips welcomed.

I've decided to give Black Desert a try after finding out they had a free trial. Took a hiatus from the MMORPG world but recently have felt an itch for at least trying some.

From what I hear online, the game is mainly a huge grind fest which turns me off if it gets to be too much. I also have been feeling like playing a game while I have videos playing on my other monitor so maybe I'll change my mind.

As a beginner, what's the rundown on what I'll be getting into with Black Desert Online? What's so good about it? What really sucks? What are some beginner tips that could help?
