First time this game dissappointed me :( aka don't buy rocket league for xbox

I spent more than 400 hours on pc with this game, always enjoyed it and was excited about the new features, even participated in a tournaments in our local gaming bar (and got rekt by the pros :P ) but after the dissappointment I experienced today I don't know if I want to play it anymore.

So I have this friend who is kinda into games, I brougth my laptop to his place once and we played some Rocket league. He liked it and also played it at others friend's place couple of times. He has no gaming pc but an XBOX one S so I decided to buy him the game for xbox (a hard copy because why would you enable giving gift games on xbox right microsoft?). I had to pay for it like 30 euros but that's ok it's for a friend..

Ok so today afternoon we finally had some time to play. We put the game in, firstly a 6GB update needs to be downloaded but that's understandable. Update downloaded let's start the game - find a match.. aaaand the game glitches and crashes. Ok that happens, let's try again. start the game, find the match.. aaand it says you need a gold membership to play online? what the ef? I've already payed 30 euros for the game and now you need to pay some monthly fee? The friend says let's buy the one month trial so we can play. ok let's see buy the membership, agree with the terms bla bla.. and the game glitches again - the circle is spinning but nothing happens. Ok I guess we cannot buy the gold membership. Let's take a look at the cool cars, this should be the "platinum edition" (or whatever is the name) including 2 DLCs. but where are they? we couldn't find them anywhere. Do you need to unlock the DLC cars too? So we just played some training and some matches against bots, while the game was always glitching on the loading screens. turned it off after couple of minutes both dissappointed :(

I have a strong feeling microsoft is the one to blame here but is psyonix actually ok how it works on xbox? After this I do not recommend anyone to buy this game.

TL;DR gave a friend rocket league for xbox hoping we will have some fun but instead he got a glitchy crappy game for which he needs to buy a gold membership...
