Do crafting writs not work for me or are they supposed to be like this..?

So, from my understanding they're supposed to raise your tailoring, woodworking, or blacksmithing when you finish them as it gives a box, regular xp and about 1,000 xp for crafting, when I did it the first time I noticed a raise in my tailoring, but after doing it more it never levels anything up...? This a glitch or...? The inspiration just seems like it doesn't go into my crafting
