Civ6: I've never actually completed a game on Civ 6.

I'm not sure why. The furthest I have ever gone in Civ 6 was the Renaissance age, then I get an urge to quit.

Typically, I stop playing before then, just before the Medieval age. How do I make the game more exciting for myself?
