Standby mode causes Pebble Time to disconnect permanently

Hiya. Sorry if this has been posted more recently than a year, but I searched with Google and couldn't find any solution, so here I am.

As the title reads, once I turn on standby mode and the Time disconnects, it will not reconnect no matter how much I shake it or wave it around. I'd really like to have this enabled again, because my watch battery and my phone battery drain a lot faster now with the constant connection. I think it might have broken with the final update Pebble pushed out before dying.

I'm aware official support for this device has ended, but I was hoping maybe the community could help me. One day I will replace it with a newer smartwatch with an inferior battery, but I don't quite have the funds yet.

Edit: this is on a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, Android 7.0.
