About to begin college, currently working. Advice on bank accounts, student loans?
Hi all,
I'm a rising college freshman and I need some help managing my money and loans that I should take out. The total cost of attendance for my college is around $15k per year. Working at my summer job (a host) I currently make an average of $15 per hour and I work 20 hours per week. I'm planning on quitting on August 1. I will find a part time job, hopefully in the same industry, when I move to college.
My parents will help cover part of my attendance, but not a very significant portion.
Currently, I have a Bank of America checking account, but I want an account that I can deposit all of my earnings in and also to pay the tuition costs with. What type of account should I make and what are your recommendations for the bank?
Additionally, should I take out student loans and if so what type? I've been offered a $2200 work study and $5500 in the form of Direct Stafford loan.
I appreciate any help, and I will be happy to clarify or provide any more information (that's not sensitive).
Thank you!
