PS4 - R3 to sort items?

Hello.

I am playing the Witcher 3 on my PS4 and when talking to a shopkeeper it says I can press R3 to sort items.

When I press R3 it gives me the option to sort items by rarity, weight, etc. but when I confirm the items are never sorted any differently.

Might someone be able to lend me a hand?

Thanks.
