Can I stay automatically connected to my NAS on a remote network?
Hey all. Apologies if this question has been asked a million times, I've tried searching but I can't find a wording specific enough to find anyone else who's had the exact question I have. So, I have a PC built for Plex which will soon also be my gaming rig, and a Synology DS416j which has all of my Plex data on it. The NAS is always going to be at home as it is, but sometimes when I'm visiting my parents, I take my gaming PC with me for extended stays. This currently isn't a problem (I have two separate PCs, my main one, and one just for Plex) but when my Plex PC replaces my gaming PC, I'll want to be taking that with me too. The issue is, on my home network, Plex will have no issue finding \PlexNAS and all of my media files. However, if the PC is on another network, it seems that'll be an issue. I know that I can then go online and access my video files from my Synology's webpage, but is there any way for the PC to just automatically connect to it as though they were on the same server? Or am I going to be taking my NAS with me every time my PC goes on a trip with me too? Thanks in advance for any answers.
