Song Discussion and Speculation - All Our Days

DISCUSSION

Greetings.

In this series we will look at each song from the soundtrack and discuss its lyrics. We all know that Jeff likes to give us hints as to what will happen in the show, so in these threads we can discuss what events in the show we think the lyrics have described, and what events we think they foreshadow for future volumes.

Today's thread is about All Our Days. Here is a link to the song and here are its lyrics (better format):

Long ago, before we met, / I dreamed about you. / The peace you'd bring. / The songs we'd sing. / The way you'd make things new.

Then one day, you arrived. / I heard your angel cry. / Helpless, small, and perfect, / Welcome to your life.

And on that day, I made a vow. / Whispered and true. / No matter what, no matter how, / I made this promise to you.

I will cling, I will clutch, / I'll hold onto you, I won't turn away. / I won't leave, I won't go, / I will stay with you all our days.

Years of joy have passed since then. / With time I've seen you grow. / Watched you play, new each day. / I begged the time to slow.

And though I miss the little girl, / You've made me awful proud. / Funny how our lives change, / 'Cause you're my hero now.

But things in life will rearrange. / Friends come and go. / Don't ever doubt, don't ever fear, / I'm always here and you know.

I will cling, I will clutch, / I'll hold onto you, I won't turn away. / I won't leave, I won't go, / I will stay with you all our days.

I will stay with you all our days.

To start the discussion, the wiki says "This song was written as a message by Jeff Williams to his daughter Casey." This means the song doesn't really apply to the show. We could say "if it were...", in which case it would probably be from Yang to Ruby in my opinion, or we could just talk about how sweet it is that he wrote a song for his daughter or how odd it must have been for her to sing it to herself.

What do you think?
