Weekends are hard
I realized I had to embrace sobriety on May 1, 2017. Unfortunately, on May 31, 2017, I tripped up and had some wine. My wife discovered it and asked me to leave the house. I don't believe that my absence is permanent, but it sure feels like it now.
So, I'm at my dad's house, without my wife and kids. I'm lonely, sad, and I feel abandoned. I don't make excuses for my behavior and I realize that I have hurt my wife though my decisions. But being apart from my family makes me feel so adrift.
During the week, I can stay busy at work. To some extent, I can do that during the weekend, too, but it's just not the same. I keep having thoughts of going to see a movie, but I'm too aware of the pull of alcohol right now and I'm worried that I might use the movie as an excuse to drink. That's not happening today.
I'm going to go to an AA meeting in a bit. Those always help.
Thanks for listening. It really helps to get some of these thoughts out of my head.
I'm not going to drink today.
