Recommend me a laptop?

I did do a search over there on r/laptops and its obvious that questions like "Recommend me a laptop for less than £300" generally go unanswered, so I thought I'd come and ask my fellow UKians here.

So, any ideas what to get and where? Ideally I'd like an SSD but beyond that have no special demands. Its going to be used for general purpose computing so no gaming CAD/GIS type stuff.

Thanks!
