I1: Story Questions

Just picked up Injustice 2, however I never played the story mode throughout on 1. I have watched a few summary videos on youtube about the plot and I have it pretty much sorted, but assuming 2 follows on directly from 1 I have a few questions.

1. Who is actually still alive?
2. Did the characters from the second universe all get teleported back, or did some remain?
3. Out of the remaining characters, who, if anyone, is still on 'evil' superman's side.
