Replacing a blower motor, have a capacitor question.
I just replaced the blower motor for my home HVAC. The motor shop remounted the motor in the squirrel cage, and the wires seem to match the old unit. So when I install the blower and hook in the wires, imagine my surprise when nothing happened. Not even the hum I got from the bad motor. The control board gives no errors.
The capacitor that came with the motor is one of those all purpose jobs with 2.5, 5, and 7.5 posts - and jumpers that can take it up to 15. Several sites that offer this model of motor say that it needs a 10 mfd capacitor - but the shop didn't give me the jumpers, they just wired it to the 7.5 post as the old motor had used.
Can I just go get a jumper wire for this sort of thing, to make sure it works and that the motor (which was indeed bad, with blown bearings) was really my only problem? The motor shop closed, and I'm hoping I can get this working before Monday.
Thanks.
