Really nice work. Definitely get the sense of a divergence between reality and surface appearance, summed up pretty well by the enjambment in the first line. Love it.

Your poem was simple and short, but it gave me the feeling it was saying, "There's more to me than you have seen."
I like that you talk about the bright colors that aren't properly seen.
It makes me think of when I stare at old photographs of family members. I have an idea from the photo, but I know absolutely nothing about them and their souls. It leaves a hollowness behind.
Definitely enjoyable. :)

I think this poem has a couple good related messages in it, one that is hard for me to put into words actually but I think deals with a lost or faded past, or a spiritual void? Maybe I'm crazy but it has an undertone to me. And then what the other commenter said,

> I know nothing about them

> It leaves a hollowness behind

I agree, it does leave a hollowness behind, in a good poetic way.

.

I feel like the rest of the poem already implies the idea of

> You'll never see my closet's outfit

So *maybe* that sentence isn't entirely necessary. If you were concerned people wouldn't get the message without that, I still got *a* message, at least, without that bit.

Good poem 👍

The distance of time imparts old pictures with an air of mystery. Why *does* Mona Lisa smile? We know we can only get a surface level rad on these complex people.

But does the same imply in real life with real people? We can see them, see their colours, their context but does emotional distance render them as pictures?

I loved this poem!

I pictured an old photo of a man that I simply looked at passively. A photo I would have simply associated with the "40s" or the "50s". A photo I would of simply associated with a specific genre or movie. I see a familiar face. I pay no attention to the uniqueness of the individual in the photo. I give him no acknowledgment. I dont consider the long life he lived, the personality I can't see behind the photo. The fact that this was a real living breathing person just like me and not just a "character". I see him reminding me he was real, reminding me that this moment was real in this poem.

i think this is very provoking with my thoughts - at first it seems sad like you've killed yourself and all that left is a photo - but than it seems like you are looking at a picture from the past, maybe a grandmother and you are representing her self.
also, it reminds me of a song (which i can't for the life of me think the title or the guy who sings it) but it's a great song lol!

I also enjoyed the poem, but the never seeing my closets outfit made me stumble over it when I read it. The old photograph line really stood out more and made the same point. All in all though it put your point across and I that's what we're trying to do here anyways, good job.
