Welcome to the 2017 r/Christianity Community of Christ AMA!

I want to begin by giving a special thank you to our principle organizer, u/misspropanda, for her seemingly endless energy and patience in organizing this series.

u/TickledPear will be participating from our headquarters city of Independence, Missouri. She will join us as soon as she is off work.

u/IranRPCV is a life long member and current Elder located in California. We are speaking as members, and not in any other official capacity for the Church.

Community of Christ shared 14 years of common history with the LDS Church. We reorganized in 1860 and were known as RLDS until 2001, when we became Community of Christ. We are a Trinitarian non creedal Christian denomination with members in over 60 countries. We have a growing identity as a Peace Church.

The subreddit at r/CommunityOfChrist has additional links for those wishing to explore the church in greater depth. Wikipedia, as usual, also has a great overview.

We are a community of Christians who practice formal continuing revelation through documents presented by our president to our World Conferences, and discussed through a process of common consent that carry instruction for the church.

We have a formal policy of faithful disagreement which upholds the value of each individual member and provides space for disagreement within the body of the church.

We strive to be a people sharing a a faithful response to the call to live the mission of Christ.

Thank you for coming to our AMA!

Our friends at United Church of Christ are doing an AMA today too, so please check them out

It is 6:00 AM in California, the coffee is brewing, let the Community of Christ AMA begin!
