How much is a heavy bench session impacted by a heavy OHP session a couple of days earlier?

^ question

Basically I will only be able to train mon-wed and friday come august and I'd rather have more rest time between deadlift and squatting than bench / ohp, which means OHP and Bench will be mon / wed respectively.

I realize they overlap, but given the lighter load on OHPs and the complete of pec activation in the press, I'm not really sure how much I should expect it to impact the bench.

Not at all, assuming your recovery is on point.

I PR'd on bench doing heavy singles after OHP day yesterday lol.

You can feel it out by mimicking the movements. Mime doing a benchpress while flexing. feel your pecs and shoulders. You should feel that your pecs flex when you push your arms out, but very little happens in your back. You should find the inverse is true when acting like you are doing the overhead.

I follow heavy OHP with heavy bench on my chest/shoulder day and it feels fine. Your triceps might be a little more tired than they normally would be, but OHP shouldn't be fatiguing your chest, and bench shouldn't be fatiguing your shoulders.

I must be weak as hell or doing something terribly wrong, because I had to split my chest and shoulder days with a day in between because my tris were a bottleneck towards the end when I did chest/shoulder on the same day.

Yeah, first time I did chest and shoulders together, my tris gassed out towards the end. I worked around it by lowering the weight on the accessory push movements (arnold press, incline bench.)

Little to none. And if it does what, are you not going to do them?

You can alter workouts to be more about volume than trying to lift heavy.
