American Home Shield is worthless

My dad is elderly and has a policy with American Home Shield. It is worse than useless. Every time there's a problem at the house, he wants to run things through AHS because "it's only going to be a $75 service fee."

There are numerous problems with AHS. First, the customer service is awful. They don't have enough telephone operators. They do EVERYTHING they can to force you to a website. Well, guess what, if you are selling to old people you can't expect them to go online. Making an old person wait on hold for hours is shitty. It's garbage.

Second, when you do get through to them, you agree to allow them to use the cheapest, worst, most useless contractors they can find. Dad's upstairs AC went out three years ago. He had to have an entirely new system put in. They only gave him a $500 credit towards a new system. He didn't get a new system "for free". He paid for it. The contractor installed the system incorrectly and did a super shitty job.

He's had trouble with the AC every summer since. Every time they send out a new crew that has no clue what they're doing or how to fix the mess the last crew made. He's got huge wet spots on the ceiling upstairs because the drain pan wasn't installed right.

Like all "insurance companies" their scheme is to take people's and do as little as possible, so as to keep as much money as possible. I suppose it shouldn't surprise me. I don't know if AHS is any worse than any other company doing the same thing, but they suck.
