Optimistic human in need of sobering advice about transferring
Hey all. Since r/lawschool is the king and queen thread of cynical yet helpful advice, I thought I'd enlist your help once again.
I'm a rising 2L at Santa Clara. Last year I had a full ride scholarship with stipend and only paid $2K out of pocket for 1L. I did pretty well, but not well enough to keep my full ride. I will only be on a partial scholarship and will probably accrue $80K in debt from continuing law school there. "The full scholarship is intended for students in the top 5%."
SCU is a fine law school and I'm happy with my experience there, but I want to move to DC. Moving out to Cal was an experiment where I didn't know anyone and had to fly 8 hours to spend time with family or old friends. My sister and boyfriend live in DC, so I'm thinking about transferring.
(Possibly) Important details:
-
I've been employed at a good mid-size law firm for the past two summers as a law clerk. It's a good fit. Everyone is nice, the culture/quality-of-life is nice, and they don't seem particularly concerned with school pedigree. They start associates at $165K with big bonuses each Christmas and huge growths each year. One of my colleagues is two years out of law school and making $215K. The major detail is that the firm offered me a job this morning to stay on part or full-time during law school if I transfer to DC. While they haven't officially offered, it's pretty common that law clerks or paralegals work through law school and stay on as associates after at this firm.

I have a hard science background and am studying for the patent bar (and anticipate passing in August).
-
I can live with my boyfriend or sister pretty easily for cheap or for free. Right now I'm living with my boyfriend and we are right in the city. He has a steady big-boy job and could support me indefinitely if I were to leach off of him.

I'm scrappy. By that I mean I'm from a poor farming town with a poor family. I'm a first-gen college and law student. I've worked at law firms, hospitals, and laboratories, but I've also worked at laundromats, farms, and fast food.
Main Question: I've applied to GW, American, and Gtown. I'm planning on applying to Catholic and George Mason. Are there any other schools that I should consider? Should I knock any of those schools off my list?
Any thoughts/advice is welcome and appreciated. Thanks in advance.
