Infamy V [L100] Survivalist Kingpin Vest Build
Hello, I'm Tekl. I've been off and on in the Payday 2 community since the beta and have released tons of builds here. Recently coming back and trying new builds since the Kingpin and Sirario perk deck releases!
This type of build with a mid-tier vest is something I've been wanting to make viable for a long time, yet just wasn't possible compared to better alternatives. After my long break I came back to Payday 2 and started experimenting with the Kingpin and Sicario perk decks and found them extremely fun to play around with and found that the Kingpin deck works amazing and my opinion is the best deck with mid tier vests. I think even Sicario can find its place as a mid-tier vest perk deck as some type of recon sniper class with high mobility.
Vests have been in a bad spot up to these changes and honestly I think they might be in the best spot ever now, despite the hardcore fans of pure dodge vs pure ICTV. The main problem with vests were they didn't give enough armor and their dodge rate just wasn't worth what you were getting, even when running the Crook deck.
The main advantage to using a vest in this type of build is mobility. That's the huge major factor from comparing the survival rate of someone using a heavy vest vs using ICTV. There's points in the game on DW or One Down where you just HAVE to have mobility. If you get trapped in a room with ICTV you have no choice, but to kill everything or die; however, with vests or pure suit you have the option of getting out of a cluster of enemies with a good chance of survival.
Update: For both builds I currently took points out of Bulleye's Aced since the extra 20 armor for protection is pretty pointless after Mayhem. Bullseye Basic is only worth getting for the extra 1 shot of damage you can take if you proc it when you don't have armor on. Even on Deathwish you probably want to take Bullseye Basic because of the damage the enemies put out. This also gives the advantage going into every mission knowing you have Shock and Awe basic always on for the extra armor regen bonus.
Armor: Heavy Vest
Perk Deck: Kingpin Perk Deck. (The way you use this is very important. You want to only activate your injector when taking health damage or when you're about to run through tons of enemies and know you're likely to take damage.)
Primary weapon: Breaker 12G Shotgun
Ammunition: Buckshot 000, +15 damage
Barrel: Long Barrel
Barrel Ext: The Silent Killer Suppressor
Boost: +4 Stability, might want to try +4 accuracy here to have a higher chance of getting snipers. I will be starting to run that and see how it works.
Gadget: Tactical Laser Module
Lower Receiver: Treated Body
Stock: Long Stock
Secondary weapon: GSPS 12G Shotgun
Ammunition: 000 Buckshot, +15 damage
Barrel Ext: The Silent Killer Suppressor
Boost: +4 Stability
Gadget: Compact Laser Module
Melee: Any. I prefer the Kunai Knife for the poison. It seems to dominate regular enemies 100% of the time after 1 tick of poison, as long as no one shots the enemy as the animation is going on. The only downside is you can't dominate cops that don't have armor at the beginning of missions.
Notes/Notable Skills:
-
Always make sure you have a hostage converted to gain health from hostage taker and you also want a hostage converted for the mobility and hp bonus.
-
Always track your injector timing in the back of your head. If you just used it and it has 20 secs left you'll want to play more passive, if it has 5 secs left you might want to play more aggressive. Sometimes even just procing it when your team is taking a lot of heat can help out a lot. Maybe you see someone in ICTV struggling to keep up and his armor is getting shredded fast, you can stand in front of him and proc the injector and one of the skills from it makes enemies prioritize shooting you when you're injected.
-
I only bring Inspire basic for this. Honestly with the huge base HP you get from Kingpin and the damage reduction while you use injector, 2.5 secs to manually revive someone will almost never down you. Even if it does you have swan song basic to finish the revive.
-
Speed to Armor ratio is amazing on this build. Your speed will be 37.2 and your armor will be 117 with skills. Suit is 40 speed, 0 armor while the next vest tier up is 117 armor also, but a huge decrease in speed at 31.9. Die Hard Aced basically makes this vest a tier higher in armor.
-
Shotguns do massive damage from the shotgun skills + silencer skills.
-
Always try to headshot to proc Bulleye for free armor, this helps sustaining a lot.
-
I don't run a "long range" secondary. Pretty much every map I play these 2 shotguns are accurate enough to down snipers from a distance.
