The NHL should have the World Cup of Hockey take place annually in place of the All Star Game.

If the NHL wants to stop participating in the Olympics then it should have the World Cup of Hockey take place annually in place of the All Star Game.

An example of what it could look like this coming year:

January 20, 2018 - last game for every team before the break.

January 21, 2018 - All 8 international rosters (Could bring back Europe/Team NA or replace with actual countries) are announced. Also have every matchup drawn on Live TV at the same time as the announcement to hype it up.

January 22-23, 2018 - Teams practice/warm up days.

January 24,25 2018 - Quarter Finals are played

January 27, 2018 - Both Semi Finals take place.

January 28, 2018 - Finals. 1 day rest should be fine given that the tournament all takes place in 1 arena.

This tournament provides:

• Replacement of the current boring All Star Game
• Replacement of the Olympics
• A bye week for 2/3 of the league not involved in the tourney
• Something worth playing for
• An exciting annual international tournament for NHL players (Sorry World Championships)
