[Serious] Is a Frittata supposed to taste like a dried ass omelette?

So I'm getting into Spanish cuisine lately so please forgive my ignorance. For some reason I thought the texture of a Frittata would be more silky, like a custard. While my attempts look picture-perfect, at least visually, they result in texture not unlike that of a dried-up bad omelette - like what you'd get at Denny's. Am I doing it wrong or is that just the nature of a Frittata?
