We're almost into an apartment. The property manager told us to list our dog as a 'mix', but upon reading the lease we discover that it specifically bans pit bull mixes. Wat do

We were up front with the leasing officer and said that we have a pit bull mix, who absolutely looks like a pit. His ears were docked (not by us, he's a rescue) and he's just really - well, pitty. The leasing person said that was fine, plenty of people have them, we should just list him as a mix and it will be OK.

Well we're going over our lease agreement and in big bold letters it lists a number of breeds that aren't allowed, including pits and pit mixes.

Anyone have experience with this sort of situation? I'm going to try and get something in writing saying that our dog is approved, but my gut tells me that they won't do it because their insurance has breed restrictions.

edit: Dog tax. Here's my handsome boy.
