Any major life changes?

Of all the MEs I've seen mentioned, I've not seen mention of anything major enough that someone couldn't function in some way. Just curious if any one has experienced or heard of someone experiencing a change that they we not able to function in some area. As an example someone goes to work and some piece of equipment is so different that they no longer know how to operate it.
