Should I Install macOS High Sierra?
#Hello r/macOS!
Many people are asking questions such as, "Should I install macOS High Sierra?", or "Will this app work in macOS High Sierra?" and we would like to build this thread with information of what does work, what does not, and how to install macOS Sierra if you need to revert. Please comment below with information and compatibility issues you have experienced!
##1. Should I install macOS High Sierra?
Apple releases betas for developers, but many people also enjoy testing this pre-release software. Apple recommends not installing beta software on your primary machine, as it can be buggy and unstable. Apple has a Public Beta that starts at the end of June, and is often more stable than the developer versions.
##2. Reverting Back to macOS Sierra
If you installed macOS High Sierra and want to revert back, you will need to do so using a bootable USB drive. Apple has these instructions on their website, and another example from 9to5Mac. This will install a fresh copy, and you may lose data.
##3. Compatibility Issues
Please let us know in the comments if you have any compatibility issues with macOS High Sierra. This will help other users when deciding if they should update or not.
##TL;DR
If you are asking, No. Don't Install macOS High Sierra if you are expecting a bug free and stable operating system. Developer Betas are not built to be fully stable releases.
