Help with upgrading Chromebokn C720 SSD

Hi all, just preemptively--I'm a complete computer noob and so far have adapted to Linux only by excessive googling.

I bought an acer chromebook C720 a while ago and did a clean install of bodhi linux. I've since run out of the original 16GB and would like to update my SSD.

The guides that I'm reading online all assume that I'm starting out with chrome OS. So I have a (potentially super basic) question...

If I make a recovery image on an USB with my bodhi Linux machine, would I be able to recover the OS after the SSD upgrade without having to revert back to chrome OS and then re-installing bode Linux OS?
