Best practice for bouncing project to audio prior to mixing?

Up until recently I have done all my mixing on tracks within the original project file, without bouncing anything to audio.

I know it's best to completely separate the production and mixing phases of a track, but I generally make slight mixing adjustments as I write a track (light EQ & compression) and then do the majority of the mixing after the track is written.

I'm wondering if there's a way to bounce everything to audio without bouncing the processing as well, but without removing it either?

Ideally, my project and plugins would all look the exact same after bouncing, only difference being that all the midi would now be audio tracks.
