Blockchain currency and IoT applications

Can someone tell me a theoretical use case for ARK or any other digital currency in IoT applications?

I work in monitoring components in large industrial equipment for health status/performance and I'm really struggling to see anything that isnt putting square pegs in round holes. I hear blockchain/IoT branded around but at the moment it just seems like buzzwords for managers to justify their jobs.

OK so I could send some ARK or some other currency and open a lock, but who cares? I can already do this anyway and I dont need to buy some currency and pay the transactions. So whats the point? I can see some use in stuff like amazon delivering/payment for goods, but other than this I cant see any use in 'IoT'
