[M/17/174 cm/68 kg] Just started working out. What does /r/bodyweightfitness think of my routine?
Hi!
First of all I need to confess that it feels amazing finally starting to work out. This week I finally got myself to start working out. I've been fairly fit, my weight has always fluctuating between 65 kg to 68 kg but lately I've got it to stay between 67 - 68. It feels like I don't really weigh as much as I should do so that's why I am thinking of aiming towards 70 kg.
So I've looked around quite a little bit and looked over what exercises might be good. Below is my routine, which btw I do on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays.
Routine:
Warm up
Nothing special, just general stretching to relax my muscles and joints.
Run
This is how I start my work-out with some basic running. Since I am just starting out my running routine goes like this:
- 200 m running
- 30 s walking
- 200 m running
- 30 s walking
- 200 m running
- 30 s walking
- 200 m running
- 30 s walking
- 200 m running
Every week I add 200 m to that.
Work-out
- 8/10/12 push ups
- 8/10/12 bench dips
- 8/10/12 crunches
- 15s/30s/30s plank
- 15/20/25 squats
- 15/20/25 jumping jacks
- 3 monkey bar crossings
I expect increasing the number of reps week-by-week
Chin up work-out
12 sets of 1 rep with 30 s rest between. Every week afterwards goes like this: 6 sets of 2 reps; 4 sets of 3 reps; 3 sets of 4 reps; and so on until I can reach 1 set of 12 reps.
Other
I ride my bicycle almost every day since it's my favorite mean of transportation. Every day I ride my bicycle for more than 5 - 6 kilometers.
So far this has been the first week when I've done this work-out and I am not planning on stopping anytime soon! It sure feels amazing to work-out, though I kinda have this impression that this work-out that I have isn't really helpful, but hopefully that's just me! That's why I posted here in the first place.
My goals are to basically get fit, achieve a healthy lifestyle (I did adjust my diet, long before starting working-out), and get dem 6-packs.
So yeah, I am looking for any possible feedback. Thanks for reading this far!
