Question regarding the attorney client relationship and statements.
I'm being represented along with several others in a settlement negotiation for a tortious case. My attorney made a statement while representing me without consulting me beforehand that I believe to be false. (I say "that I believe to be false" rather than "false statements" because I believe she (probably) believed it to be true. The whole thing is subjective. While I have documentation supporting my side, that documentation is expert-based, and is therefore also subjective.)
I think the statement understates my legitimate claim and will likely reduce my settlement and the overall settlement for the others harmed, if I let it stand.
I'm not willing to abide by the statement she made. What are my options?
I apologize in advance for the vagueness of my question. If it were myself alone I would ask directly, with context, but because there are others involved, I really can't. And guideline E4 specifically prohibits it, so...
The tort occurred in Anaheim, California.
