I'm not ready for the toddler smackdown Lord of the Flies survival of the fittest mayhem.

lady rant

If my young toddler hits another kid, I

  1. tell her to stop

  2. distract her with something else

  3. apologize to the other kid/parent, and, if all else fails,

  4. move her away to play somewhere else.

But it's starting to seem like what other moms do is

  1. feebly say, "hey honey, gentle hands!" and then

  2. nothing.

Like, why do I have to be the one to remove my sobbing 13 month old? MAYBE IT IS YOU WHO SHOULD LEAVE.
