I think a firetruck went right "through" me and my car.
I was on my way to work (about 15 minutes away), and decided to take a different way to work, mainly because I wanted to avoid the interstate since it had rained earlier in the day, and the roads were very, very wet. At the time, I was driving a 2006 Hyundai Accent, and my traction on the tires were a little worn down. I was being stupid, and going on downhill curves (ironic because of me avoiding the interstate, but hey – don’t judge. I was an idiot) – at about 35MPH. Because of the downhill, wet roads, I heard a faint wail of a siren, so I started to slow down, but then I saw the firetruck zoom around a curve up the hill, so I slammed on my breaks in a panic, because I wanted to pull off to the side. Instead, the wet roads caused my driver’s side of the car to go over into the other lane, and I crap you not: the firetruck honked and went RIGHT THROUGH me and the car. There was no other explanation, because I was in the driver’s seat, and could see clear-as-day that I was in the other lane, and there was nowhere for the firetruck to swerve to avoid hitting me.
I told my fiancé about it – even joked that I had just “died” – but we both just passed it off to be a panic-induced false memory. But I’ve been thinking about it more and more lately, and for some reason – I can’t get out of my mind how it came off to me like it was a total, thorough “glitch”-like experience.
