Another rMBP 2012 15" story, not so lucky

I have been reading about all these stories of people getting their Macbooks replaced for $200 so I tried my luck with an 2012 Macbook that has faulty battery. I use this Macbook daily for work and it sometimes shuts down in a middle of a meeting with a client. On full charge, the laptop lasts around 30 minutes.

After talking to the Genius Bar representative, I was told that I can either wait u til September 17 and have the battery replaced for free OR choose any new Macbook and get a $200 discount on that model.

This would mean "selling" my, otherwise in fine condition, Macbook that originaly cost ~$3,000 (upgraded graphics card) for $200 which makes no sense.

/end of rant

Good luck to anyone else trying to get their Macbook replaced!

Edit: Just got back from a different Apple store and I was able to get a refurbrished Macbook Pro 2015! Thank you for your help everybody :)
