Unique Helmet Concept (Inspired by Guild Wars 1 - 55 Monk)

The unique is primarily inspired by two concepts. First is the fact that "Life gain on hit" is mostly a worthless stat for many builds. This unique would pretty much require that stat. Second, the unique is similar to that of a 55 Monk from guild wars 1. The concept around this build was to get as low as possible of maximum health and then maintain the enchantment restricting damage to a percentage of your max health. Due to your low total health, the amount of healing was minimal. 55 Monks were extremely weak to things like purging of enchantments so they had their downsides. This unique while basically making you invincible in many instances would have very large downsides in other cases.
This item would inspire a whole breed of builds that don't exist:
-
A build around this item would try to pick up as little life and ES as possible. Less life means easier healing. This means evasion based rares that most other life builds would disregard would have a niche use. The build can also ignore life nodes on the tree allowing it to pick up more damage based nodes or shore up the other major flaws (discussed below).
-
The build would use "Life gain on hit" as the main healing source. This stat scales horribly today and is largely unused outside of early leveling. If you have a very small health pool, the amount of life gain on hit suddenly become extremely good. While this would mostly be dex based melee/range builds, a caster might be able to pull off something with Cybil's Paw.
-
While the build would be mostly invincible to threats that concern most everyone else (i.e. large one-shot mechanics), this build has a different set of concerns it needs to address. First it will need to avoid rapid hits. 5 hits in a row (or more or less depending on the % chosen) even from relatively small hits and the build will generally die. As such, evasion/dodge is pretty much a must for the build.
-
The second concern of this build would be stuns. Eye of Chayula would be an obvious item given the reduced life being beneficial and the stun immunity.
-
The third and most serious concern would be degen effects. Even with a 50% reduced damage taken from degens along with a Leo shield, I think it would still be a major threat. While most characters are building around a large life pool, you instead are focusing on reducing degens from impacting you. You might build towards poison, burn/ele ailment, or bleed immunity. You might take boots to avoid burning ground effects. I think you'd have to steer away from desecrated ground in its entirety.
-
You might even build around Divination Distillate as an alternative or supplement to life on hit. Since it is a hybrid flask and you have such a low health pool, it'll be an instant heal as long as you can maintain the duration of the potion.
I doubt this would be on par with the most powerful builds out there, but I'm sure this unique could inspire or a whole new set of builds.
