I am having a layout issue with char.js [HELP] please?

Here is the repo so far on gh pages: https://jasonbwelsh.github.io/web-app-dashboard/

The chart is pushing out WAYYY past its container, and it was my understanding that by default it stays fixed to its container. If I define a height and width for the section element that wraps the canvas element, the canvas element does not respect the height of its container and just spans out wherever it wants. I need to have a bunch of these charts on this page and I cannot move forward until I figure this out. Help please?
