Biohacking/augmentation, the rise of intrusive technology, and Judaism
Piggybacking on this thread from earlier, can we talk about whether Judaism is poised to respond to what seems to be the future of how mankind will operate - mainly modification made to our bodies that are not necessary but majorly improve quality of life and general advancements that are intrusive but ubiquitous (Siri or Alexa, for example).
How will Judaism, the Orthodoxy in particular, adapt to the fact that electronically powered devices may soon be embedded in our bodies? What would it mean for Shabbat? Will reform be enacted or will a move in the opposite, potentially techno-phobic direction be necessitated? Will religious Jews become the Luddites of the 21st century and beyond?
