Can my light fixture be repaired?

One of my lights went out in our kitchen light fixture. The store I purchase my light fixture from says it can't be repaired, that they no longer make the socket for replacement. They told me it was a "G9 Double Loop Base Socket", whatever that means. Is that true or do they just not want to deal with it?
