A Great Run at AKSIS with a Great Fireteam
I just have to express my elation after a long run at Aksis last night with a solid FT from the 100. We were mostly randoms, with a few people experienced at the Challenge but most of us were looking for that first Challenge clear. I now understand why people request teams with multiple clears under their belt because lets face it, most of us don't have all night. But I took the risk because I needed to, and they let me in. We started at Aksis Phase 2, and it took 3 hours. I had a long day already and told myself I wasn't going to stay up all night... but I really didn't want to be the first one to quit. Things that would hang us up were - missing the slam due to slow floofing, dying to Shanks we thought were dead, SLOW ASS Servitor #3 coming out of mid, and in my case, being empowered and hearing someone call out Aksis teleport to Not My Side, and waiting up to 1.5 seconds to process that I needs to slam that Supercharge and missing it! A couple times we wiped on round 2 or 3, and through all of it we laughed, we encouraged, we beat up on ourselves and the rest of the team would walk the person back from the ledge. It got late, I was edgy, another guy I'm pretty sure threw his controller after thinking he caused a wipe, and then........ we executed flawlessly. I got empowered with no teleport 3 times in a row, and all 3 times I supercharged like a boss. We tethered him in purple syrup and watched him writhe under our Dark Drinkers and Elemental canons and he flashed back to mid. Our leader called for grenades, snipers, EVERYTHING we had... and in a flash of white he blinked out and the satisfying SHINK of loot rewards flooded my brain with a sense of satisfaction that kept me buzzing for 15 more minutes while I hit the tower and took my new guns to the Plaguelands to try them out. I'm SO glad I didn't quit on them! And my 2 year old slept late so literally no consequences this time.
