Stuck in interpreting the dream. Help?

Very interested in your interpretation of this dream that's been on my mind for a while now. I've been playing around with it for a while but it hadn't unfolded for me. Usually dreams do within a week, or a month, but this one just doesn't budge. It felt important and I keep coming back to it, but there's a limited material provided by the dream itself.

I am walking around occupied with something non-consequential, exploring the terrain. When suddenly, I see this gorgeous, radiant girl on the skates make this sudden break right in front of me. And I get the sense that this girl is the one, everything I was looking for. She is the personification of the positive side of Anima, I believe. She's a beautiful, sensual blonde, with a good playful vibe to her, but at the same time serious and mature. As I think of a way of approaching her a large, black dog gets in between us, taking a protective stance and wouldn't let me approach.

There was a certain sense of unworthiness, as if this dog represented the gatekeeper, the check to determine if I was worthy of approaching and refused the entry. What bothers me is that I was unable to make a value judgment based on this dream. Why was I unworthy? Why the dog?

Gone through u/RadOwl "The Dream Interpretation Dictionary: Symbols, Signs, and Meanings" and "The Book Of Symbols: Reflections On Archetypal Images", which usually give me some good clues, but didn't find anything that would guide me to new revelation. Would someone please help me get to the meaning behind the dream?
