Children naturally learn how to #communicate by imitating their parents' voice, but some children will never hear the voice of their parents'.

This is Heba. Heba was abandoned by her birth parents because she was born deaf. Heba is a little girl who lives in Accra, Ghana. Can you imagine being disowned by your parents because you were never taught how to communicate?

Please give deaf children like Heba a voice through sign language. My name is Amanda and I am a sign language interpreter. With your help, I can help Heba and other children like her. Please fund me to go to Ghana, so that I can make a difference in the lives of deaf children.

Deaf children in Ghana enter school with a minuscule 30 - 100 word vocabulary. They truly don't understand the practice of communication. Language development and cognitive skills are seriously delayed. They are soon left behind. In class they get frustrated. Other children ridicule them. Like Heba, they are often abandoned by their parents.

I am Inspired to Help

I have witnessed the wondrous sight of deaf children using sign language with their hearing parents to communicate. I have seen the glowing smiles on their faces as other children in school take an interest in their language. I have heard the contagious laughter of deaf children socializing with peers on the playground. It is overwhelmingly joyous and inspiring. Unfortunately, deaf Ghanaian children are not offered the same joys when trying to communicate. I want to give them the voice, the smiles, and the laughter every child deserves.

Please donate now to send me to Africa. I am inspired to share this visual language with neglected deaf Ghanaian children.
