I know nothing about fishing and I want to gift my dad flyfishing gear

I'm sorry if there are posts that explain this, but I don't know jack about fishing, much less fly fishing, and the posts for begginers on this subreddit, while excellent for the enlightened I assume, not knowing the lingo doesn't help. My dad has always been interested in it but didn't want to spend the money (he has used flies before, but is much more experimented with "regular" fishing).

Father's day is coming up and I want to gift him the gear. We're from argentina and I know for a fact that if I go asking in shops they'll try to sell more than give genuine advice. As for where he's going to fish, it'd be mostly somewhere without trees, although he's not exactly young, so from what I figured it should be a medium rod for the weight giving that trees aren't a problem?

Well, overall, what should I be looking for? Like brand, size, type, price range, etc.
